The conference was part of IxTC series 2008, provided the Irish Java software development community with a platform to meet, listen to and learn from some of the world's leading authorities on Java technologies delivered sixteen content packed session.

Professor Barry Smyth

Founder and Chief Scientist

Barry is a leading and renowned researcher in the area of Artificial Intelligence and advanced personalization and has worked in this area for over 15 years.

He currently holds a joint appointment with the Department of Computer Science at University College Dublin, where he is Professor of Computer Science and he manages an award-winning research group focusing on adaptive and intelligent information access technologies.

Barry has won numerous international awards from the American Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and the European Conference on Artificial Intelligence. He has published and presented his work widely.

Barry was short-listed for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006, and co-founded ChangingWorlds, one of Ireland's most successful software businesses, sold to Amdocs for $60m in December 2008.
